Judging Criteria

Judges will be looking for evidence of success in the following criteria:
Impact
Reflects significant achievement within the award category and positively impacts the customers they serve and RegTech industry. Solution provides significant improvements to the customer/user experience and addresses considerations such as timeliness, effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency.
Logo One
Logo Two
Innovation
Provides innovative RegTech solution or innovative use of technology to address
challenges in the Regulatory Reporting, Risk Management, Compliance, etc. Demonstrates what is unique about nominees’ product/servi
ces.
Logo Three
Value
Provides KPIs/statistics or other metrics that demonstrates success of the solutions and what value it provides for the customers/industry.

Award Descriptions

1. Best Regulatory Reporting Solution

The award recognizes a vendor solution used by financial institutions to meet their regulatory reporting obligations with features that enhance the accuracy, timeliness of the reporting (e.g., tax, financial, transactional, narrative reporting) and the efficiency of the process for employees.

4. Best Financial Crime Solution

The award recognizes a vendor solution used by financial institutions to enhance their ability to monitor, detect and prevent potential financial crimes activities including fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery, and corruption proactively and continuously.

7. Best Wealth Management Regulatory Solution

The award recognizes a vendor solution used by a wealth management firm to manage and meet their regulatory compliance obligations in Canada with respect to Know Your Product /Product Suitability, Conflicts of Interest, Total Cost Reporting, et

10. International RegTech Company of the Year

The award recognizes an International RegTech company that has achieved commercial success and industry accolades in 2023. Submissions can be made in any category and must meet the underlying award criteria, in addition to demonstrating a commitment to building a Canadian market presence.  This demonstration may be evidenced through Canadian client base and business development, establishment of a Canada-based office with employees and participation in the Canadian regtech industry and other considerations which show an investment to the market.

Criteria 1 does not apply to the eligibility of this award.

13. People’s Choice Award

This unique award category gives opportunity to CRTA members to vote for their favourite RegTech solution from eligible nominees that have provided a video to demonstrate their innovative solution.

The voting session for People’s Choice Award will be opening at a later date.

2. Best ESG Solution

The award recognizes a vendor solution used by financial institutions to enhance ESG data collection, consolidation and management, data analysis, risk management, disclosure, and ESG/Climate risk reporting obligations.

5. Best Information Security Solution

The award recognizes a vendor solution that demonstrates excellence, innovation, and leadership in information security. Solution helps to improve data protection, cybersecurity, access management, data privacy, etc.

8. Best Innovation Technology Solution

The award recognizes a vendor solution that utilizes the most innovative and cutting-edge technology such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, blockchain, etc. to improve regulatory compliance processes.

11. Best Operational Risk Management

The award recognizes a vendor solution that supports any or all aspects of the identification, management and reporting of operational and enterprise risk including IT, third-party risks, and resilience.

3. Best Governance, Risk, Compliance Solution

The award recognizes a GRC platform that empowers organizations to adapt and configure solutions according to their specific needs, offering an integrated approach to governance, risk and compliance oversight. The platform provides comprehensive coverage of risk management use cases, encompassing diverse risk domains and regulatory compliance standards within a robust framework and delivers functionalities to seamlessly integrate governance, risk, and compliance processes into a unified system.

6. Best Cloud-Based Solution

The award recognizes a cloud-based solution used by financial institutions that can demonstrably be shown to enhance their resiliency to technology and cyber risks, while supporting adherence to regulations such as OSFI’s B-10 or B-13 Guidance.

9. Excellence in RegTech Leadership

The award recognizes leadership excellence by an individual who demonstrates outstanding vision, strategic thinking, and notable accomplishments exhibited through revenue growth, growth of clients base and significant impact on their organization, community or industry (e.g. social impact initiatives, volunteering, mentorship, etc.).

12. Best Data Lifecycle Management

This award recognizes a vendor solution that demonstrates excellence, innovation, and leadership in any or all phases of the data management lifecycle including creating and collecting data, storage, processing, archiving and distraction.

Award Eligibility Criteria

  1. The nominee must be a member of the Canadian RegTech Association, or if not a member, a Canadian corporation or have a Canadian presence through an office location.

  2. The nomination must clearly describe the problem statement(s) that the solution is able to address. 

  3. The nomination should demonstrate commercial feasibility through at least three completed implementations and describe one implementation including the problem statement and solution.

  4. Submissions should include the contact details of one reference from a completed implementation or provide a reference letter dated within the last year. Client references will be confirmed prior to being shortlisted for final review by our judging panel. 

  5. Participants must take action to ensure the quality of their nomination. Remember that your submission needs to distinguish itself from other submissions in your award category. We encourage to keep it clearly written (jargon free), creative and include the supporting evidence. 

  6. We highly encourage participants to submit a video about your product/solution to strengthen your nomination package. For People’s Choice Award participation, video submission is MANDATORY. Video should be 2-3 minutes long about your product/services and how it’s innovative and beneficial for customers and industry. Videos should be submitted to: info@canadianregtech.ca in MP4 format.

  7. The nomination should specify specific regulations in Canada that the solution is able to address/support a FI's adherence with meeting the compliance obligations (e.g., OSFI-B10, NI31-103).
